Biblical Counseling at CHCA

At Chapel Hill Christian Academy, we care about our students’ hearts just as much as their learning. Our Biblical Counselor supports students spiritually, emotionally, and relationally, helping them navigate life’s challenges through the hope and truth found in Christ.

From big feelings and friendship struggles to stress, anxiety, grief, family changes, or questions about faith and identity, students do not have to carry their concerns alone. Our Biblical Counselor provides a welcoming, supportive place to be heard, pray together, explore God’s Word, and learn practical ways to work through difficult situations.

Meeting with the Biblical Counselor is a way to receive care and encouragement—not a disciplinary consequence. This ministry reflects our commitment to caring for the whole student and partnering with families as children grow in faith, wisdom, and understanding.

Meet Mrs. Laura Reed
CHCA Biblical Counselor

Dear CHCA Families,

As your school's Biblical Counselor, my role is to come alongside students, families, and staff with Christ-centered care, encouragement, and biblical wisdom. My desire is to help students navigate life's challenges while continually pointing them to the hope and truth found in Jesus Christ.

My goal is to provide students with a safe, caring environment where they can talk through challenges and receive guidance rooted in Scripture. My role is to provide short-term, school-based support that complements the care students receive at home and through their local church.

Students may meet with me to talk about:

  • Anxiety, worry, or stress

  • Friendship and relationship challenges

  • Grief or loss

  • Family changes or difficult life circumstances

  • Anger or emotional regulation

  • Conflict resolution

  • Questions about faith, identity, and following Christ

  • Life transitions

  • Needing encouragement, prayer, or someone to listen

Counseling at CHCA is not long-term therapy or mental health treatment. If a student's needs extend support beyond the scope of school-based counseling, I will partner with families to help identify appropriate outside resources.

Students may be referred by parents, teachers, administrators, or they may request to meet with me themselves. If you would like to refer your child, you can find our Biblical Counseling Referral Form on our new School App under the “resources” section.

I believe parents are the primary spiritual influence in a child's life. My goal is never to replace that role, but to partner with you as we seek to help your child grow in wisdom, emotional health, resilience, and faith in Christ. Whenever appropriate, I will communicate with families, offer biblical encouragement, share practical strategies, and work together to support your child's overall well-being.

Building trust is an important part of counseling. Conversations with students are treated with appropriate confidentiality while also honoring my responsibility to keep students safe and to partner with parents and school leadership when concerns arise. If there is ever a concern involving a student's safety or well-being, parents and appropriate school personnel will be notified in accordance with school policy.

My prayer is that every student at CHCA knows they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by God. Whether a student is walking through a difficult season or simply needs someone to listen and pray with them, I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them with grace, truth, and the hope of the Gospel. It is a privilege to serve your family, and I look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year.

In Christ,

Mrs. Laura Reed
