Tennessee Education Freedom Scholarship Program
The Tennessee Education Freedom Scholarship (EFS) program helps make Christian education more accessible for families. This past year, 263 CHCA students applied for and received an EFS scholarship.
The Tennessee Department of Education has announced application and renewal timelines for the 2027–2028 school year. Families should carefully review the dates and instructions and complete all required steps to apply for or maintain scholarship funding. This year’s renewal application has been simplified and requires fewer steps than the initial application.
As part of CHCA’s tuition assistance process, families must first apply for EFS, which serves as the primary source of tuition support. After EFS applications have been processed, CHCA considers families for additional need-based tuition assistance based on remaining financial need and available funds.
Important Information for Families
EFS is available to eligible Tennessee students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Eligible families seeking CHCA tuition assistance must first apply for EFS. Pre-K and Hybrid Homeschool families may apply directly for CHCA’s need-based financial aid.
The EFS application and CHCA admissions application are separate processes. Receiving an EFS scholarship does not guarantee admission to CHCA. Families remain responsible for tuition not covered by EFS or additional financial aid.
Please visit the Tennessee Department of Education’s EFS page for official application dates, eligibility requirements, renewal instructions, and required documents.
